Michael came to us most recently from Atria Senior Living in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. Prior to senior living, Michael had a long career in hospitality, working for several upscale hotels in Manhattan, NY before moving to Atlanta, GA, where he worked for the corporate support teams of Wyndham Hotel Group and Radisson Hotels. Michael was inspired to go into senior living by seeing how fulfilled one of his mentors at Wyndham Hotel Group became after he made the switch to senior care. Michael is a graduate of Florida International University and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Gerontology at Kansas State University.

Dewaal Venter

Director of Culinary Services

Chef Dewaal Venter, originally from Capetown, South Africa, has worked in the food and beverage industry for over 15 years. His passion for cooking began at a young age, but his journey began as a fine dining server where he worked for several 5-star restaurants. This is where he developed his love for the quality ingredients and the presentation of dishes.

In 2004, after moving to the U.S., he was hired as a prep cook at a country club where it didn’t take long for these talents to be discovered, and he quickly moved up in the ranks to a sous chef.

Since then, Chef Venter has worked for several golf and country clubs including The Polo Club of Boca Raton and Old Westbury Golf and Country Club. He also spent a season catering for the Miami Dolphins! He believes in the farm to fork and dock dish concepts, and likes to keep food simple, enhancing with the best ingredients.

We are pleased to have Chef Dewaal Venter as our Director of Culinary Services at The Veranda Club in Boca Raton, FL!

Come and join the fun at Veranda Club! Our Celebrations team is always working on fun new events and programing to keep you busy all day. We have fabulous live entertainment, art and craft classes, a variety of games to choose from, adult education classes from technology classes to a variety of lifelong learning classes, and wonderful outings so there is never a dull moment.

Jami Stevens is a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a BS degree in Parks and Recreation. She has an emphasis in Community Leisure Services Management, Travel and Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Therapeutic Recreation. She is also a Veteran form the US Army. 

Jami’s experience covers over 35 years of experience. She has worked in several settings honing her skills of planning, implementing, and directing programs for ages Birth through 108-years-old. She is extremely flexible with directing programs for all skill levels from beginner to expert and adaptive. As a lifelong learn Jami’s military life afforded her the opportunity to work within the field around the world and with a many different cultures. 

New to the Veranda Club Jami is excited to bring many new and exciting opportunities to the residents with the help of her wonderful Celebrations team.

I have over 30 years of nursing and leadership experience In the senior living industry. Specializing in geriatric and dementia care for more than 20 years. Originally from Long Island New York I moved here in 2019. I am a certified dementia practitioner. Dedicated to providing residents with the highest quality of care.
